8300 series is a family of one pack silkscreen printing inks. It is designed for printing onto various types of metals and glass yielding excellent adhesion and chemical resistance. Because of its outstanding weather resistance, 8300 inks are most suitable for printing of outdoor displays and signboards, in addition to the typical applications such as for nameplates, electrical appliances etc.
Characteristics
◆Excellent adhesion to metals, glass and coated surfaces. Very chemical resistant.
◆Outstanding lightfastness and weather resistance. Suitable for outdoor exposure.
◆Suitable for etching and electro-plating.
◆Halogen- free. Passed RoHS test.
Usage
Nameplates, electrical appliances, electronic parts, outdoor displays, signboards etc. which are made of aluminum, stainless steel, tin/zinc plated iron, cooper, mild steel, glass or enamel coated metals.
Printing Suggestions
Silkscreen : 150~455 mesh Nylon or Polyester fabric , direct or direct-indirect photo stencil of 8~20μm thickness ; solvent resistant squeegee.
Reduction : Addition of 83-180 standard reducer or 83-182slow reducer at 5~15% is recommended. 83-008 gelled reducer is available for fine-line printing.
Wash -Up : Tsaui-Mining Universal cleanser is most effective.
Drying
150°C for 30 minutes or 180°C for 20~25 minutes.
N.B.
1.Substrate surface preparation
Thorough degreasing and cleaning of substrates to be printed are the prerequisites for good ink adhesion and ink film performance. Test for suitability for a job before production run is mandatory.
2.Outdoor displays
For maximum lightfastness and weather resistance, a minimum dried ink film thickness of 15~25μm is recommended. Overprinting with 83-925 clear coat enhances such fastness and resistance.
3.Plating resistance
8300 inks are etch and plating resistant. For harsher operations, such as gold plating , overprinting with 83-925 clear over-coat is strongly recommended.
4.Multi-color printing
To ensure inter-color adhesion, the underlying inks should be dried at a lower schedule, such as 100~130°C for 10~20 minutes before baking the last color down at 150°C for 30 minutes for complete curing.
5.When printed on glass
8300 series has inferior water and moisture resistance when printed on glass than when printed on metals. This problem can be remedied by adding 1~3% of 83-931 to 8300 inks before printing. Please contact our technical service department for further information.
Storage
8300 series has a shelf-life of up to one year if it is stored at below 25°C in its original unopened container. Container of the ink must be re-closed immediately after each use. Storing 8300 inks at above 30°C will drastically reduce its usable life.
